Gold-threaded casket cover

     This beautiful, artistic, silk and brocade cover was woven by late Mir Nezam Kashani in the Iranian city of Rasht in AH 952 for Hajji Asvar Lahiji. It measures 220× 120× 150 cm and was used to cover the gold-coated wooden casket on the holy grave of Imam Reza (AS). The cover design contains vertical and horizontal stripes which cross over each other and a number of cartouches inscribed with Arabic and Persian scripts.
